IonQ signs non-binding MoU with Intellian to explore quantum networking for satellite communications
On 2025-04-16 IonQ announced a memorandum of understanding with Intellian Technologies, a South Korea-based provider of satellite-communications antennas and ground gateways, to explore how secure quantum networking could be applied to satellite communications. IonQ framed the MoU as deepening its South Korea engagement alongside existing work with Hyundai Motors and Korean universities.
The MoU is exploratory and non-binding, but extends IonQ's quantum-networking commercialization push into satcom and reinforces its South Korea positioning. If verified into a funded program, it would mark an early satcom application of quantum networking.
Pairing quantum networking with satellite infrastructure signals IonQ broadening beyond computing into network-layer monetization, a theme echoed in its later EPB hub deal the same month.
