IonQ finalizes agreement to deliver a 100-qubit Tempo system to South Korea's KISTI national supercomputing center
On 2025-12-23 IonQ announced a finalized agreement with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) to deliver a 100-qubit IonQ Tempo system, to be integrated into KISTI-6 ('HANGANG'), Korea's largest HPC cluster, creating the country's first onsite hybrid quantum-classical integration and anchoring South Korea's National Quantum Computing Center of Excellence, with Megazone Cloud as cloud partner and IonQ named the primary quantum-technology provider. The system is accessible via secure private cloud to Korean researchers, universities and enterprises.
A finalized agreement to place a flagship 100-qubit Tempo system inside a national supercomputing center, as the primary provider for a country's center of excellence, is a meaningful international hardware-and-deployment win and an APAC expansion; it is a delivery agreement with the system not yet installed, placing it in the mid band.
National-center onsite integrations seed sovereign quantum capability and recurring upgrade/support revenue, and strengthen IonQ's position in the APAC public-sector market against neutral-atom and superconducting competitors.
