Rigetti moves Cepheus-1-108Q — its 108-qubit, twelve-chiplet modular system — to general availability with 99.1% median two-qubit fidelity
Rigetti announced general availability of Cepheus-1-108Q, a 108-qubit modular superconducting quantum computer composed of twelve interconnected 9-qubit chiplets, accessible via Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services and Amazon Braket. Published system-level performance: 99.1% median two-qubit gate fidelity, ~60ns gate speed, 99.9% median single-qubit fidelity. Rigetti stated a target of 99.5% median two-qubit fidelity later in 2026. Cepheus is the third generation of Rigetti devices following Aspen and Ankaa.
Named processor launch with published fidelities and named qubit count is in the §8.2 score-7 'material advance' band — the first modular multi-chiplet superconducting commercial system moves the chiplet-architecture approach from roadmap to customer-accessible, and the 99.1% median two-qubit fidelity is credible and public.
Pressures IBM's modular-architecture roadmap (Kookaburra and beyond) to deliver at larger scale; creates a concrete price/performance reference for UK ProQure bidders and establishes Rigetti's Q2-Q4 2026 performance target at 99.5% 2Q fidelity.
