SEALSQ enters exclusive negotiations to acquire French ASIC house IC'ALPS
On 2025-02-27 SEALSQ announced it had signed a letter of intent and entered exclusive negotiations to acquire 100% of IC'ALPS SAS, a Grenoble-based ASIC design-and-supply specialist, to strengthen SEALSQ's application-specific integrated-circuit capability for post-quantum-cryptography semiconductors. SEALSQ said the deal would add roughly 100 staff across Grenoble and Toulouse and remained subject to due diligence, definitive agreements, and French regulatory authorization.
Vertical acquisition of in-house ASIC design capacity supports SEALSQ's pivot to post-quantum hardware, reducing dependence on external design partners as it builds quantum-resistant chips; as a non-binding letter of intent in exclusive negotiations, completion is not assured.
Bringing ASIC design in-house could shorten SEALSQ's time-to-market for PQC silicon and adds European design talent, but the deal carries French foreign-investment regulatory and integration risk and was preliminary at announcement.
