Rigetti and Quanta Computer enter superconducting-quantum collaboration with $35M PIPE
On 2025-02-27 Rigetti Computing announced a strategic collaboration agreement with Quanta Computer, the Taiwan-based Fortune Global 500 server manufacturer, to accelerate development and commercialization of superconducting quantum computing. Per the announcement, each party committed to investing more than $100 million over five years in complementary areas. Concurrently, Quanta agreed to a $35 million PIPE investment in Rigetti, with closing subject to customary conditions. The collaboration and financing were disclosed in an 8-K (Items 1.01 and 5.02) filed 2025-02-28.
A combined $200M-plus multi-year commitment plus a $35M direct equity injection from a major contract manufacturer is a material partnership for a small-cap superconducting pure-play, pairing Rigetti's quantum-processor IP with Quanta's high-volume manufacturing and supply-chain scale.
Quanta's manufacturing involvement could lower Rigetti's per-system production cost and signals contract-manufacturer interest in entering the quantum hardware supply chain; the PIPE structure dilutes existing holders modestly while extending Rigetti's runway.
